This past Saturday I had the opportunity to speak at WordCamp St Louis. This year’s topic for me was Contributing without Coding.
Any person can contribute to WordPress. All you need is a login for WordCamp.org and the passion to help. There are so many venues one can contribute without writing one single line of code. Marketing, the forums, community, training, and WordCamps are all great ways to contribute for those who do not like to code.
There are also many ways to contribute with coding. There is always a need for polygots and accessibility gurus. Theme builders and plugins devs are always in need. Plus, there is always the option to work on WordPress Core.
There is talk there will be over 500 contributors for WordPress 5.0.
At the moment there are 18 different communities in Make.WordPress.org where anyone can find a home in contributing to the open source project.
Below are my slides from WordCamp St Louis 2018.
